HNB/EPB Employees Volunteered Time and Supported Communities through United Way's Day of Caring

On September 11, 2008, our employees took part in the United Way’s Day of Caring. This day of community service is a nationwide event benefitting the many agencies and communities United Way serves. Last year, over $79,000 in labor costs were saved due to volunteerism during the United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley’s Day of Caring alone.

Our volunteers could be seen in the following communities:

  • As the major sponsor of the United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley’s Day of Caring, volunteers from East Penn Bank headed out to the Second Harvest Food Bank of the Lehigh Valley and Northeastern Pennsylvania, Allentown. Second Harvest collects and distributes food to more than 200 member organizations including soup kitchens, emergency shelters, day cares and youth programs throughout the greater Lehigh Valley and Pocono region. Volunteers at this event sorted and created donation boxes to be shipped to these important community service organizations. Some of the items being distributed were collected in a bank wide employee food drive.
  • Volunteers from Harleysville National Bank will be partnering with other local banks to support the North Penn United Way’s Day of Caring.  Over 20 employees will head out to the Wellness Center, Lansdale, to assist in light landscaping, maintenance and cleaning duties.
